The Japanese government expects that the “power reserve ratio” of the power supply capacity of 1 capital and 8 prefectures, including Tokyo Metropolis, may be significantly lower than the minimum level to maintain a stable power supply. Once the power supply cannot be ensured, it may lead to large-scale power outages. To this end, the Japanese government issued an alert on the shortage of power supply, calling on households and businesses in the Dongdian area to save electricity from 8:00 to 23:00 local time on the 22nd.
TEPCO said that on the 22nd, the company will do its best to ensure power supply. As it will take some time for power plants damaged and out of service to resume power generation, the problem of tight power supply will continue in the short term.
