Rarely has anyone gone out with a bigger lead than Thingnes Bø did at Saturday’s hunt start in Canmore.
He won Friday’s sprint by a full one minute and three seconds, and thus a lot would go wrong if he didn’t win the pursuit start as well.
And the 30-year-old delivered the goods. He was occasionally threatened during the race, but also on Saturday, Thingnes Bø won.
In doing so, he also secured the overall victory in the World Cup. It is the fifth time he has won the overall shot put in biathlon.
– I am delighted. What a fight against Tarjei. It is the “worst” yellow jersey I have won overall. It’s nice to fight against Tarjei, but I know how good he is, said Thingnes Bø to NRK.
Saturday’s victory is Thingnes Bø’s 84th World Cup victory. With that, he passed Martin Fourcade in the number of World Cup victories.
The season ends with a joint start on Sunday.
