The DKI Jakarta High Court increased the financial penalty to replace the former Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate to IDR 16.1 billion and US$ 10 thousand in the corruption case in the construction of the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 BAKTI Kominfo.
Johnny must pay the replacement money within one month after the court decision becomes permanent or legally binding.
If it is not enough, the property will be confiscated and auctioned by the prosecutor. However, if the assets do not cover the replacement money, it will be replaced by imprisonment for five years.

“Imposing additional punishment in the form of payment of compensation money to the defendant in the amount of IDR 16,100,000,000.00 and US$ 10,000,” as reported in the Supreme Court (MA) Decision Directory, Tuesday (13/2).
Previously, Johnny was sentenced to pay compensation amounting to Rp. 15.5 billion, subsidiary to two years in prison.
The appeal decision was made on Monday, February 12 2024 by the chairman of the panel of judges H. Mulyanto with members Anthon R. Saragih and Brhotma Maya Marbun.
Meanwhile, the corporal punishment and fine for Johnny Plate are the same as the decision of the first instance court, namely the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).
Johnny was still sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion subsidiary six months in prison.
“Determining that the defendant’s detention period should be deducted entirely from the sentence imposed,” said the judge.
Johnny and a number of other defendants, including former Main Director of BAKTI Kominfo Anang Achmad Latif and former Human Development Expert at the University of Indonesia (Hudev UI) Yohan Suryanto, were assessed as having been proven to have caused state financial losses amounting to Rp. 8 trillion in connection with the alleged corruption case in the provision of 4G BTS towers and other supporting infrastructure.
