Regarding the head of state’s defense of his wife in the face of recent media reports about his reception in Barranquilla, he criticized the media for spreading negative news and contrasted these narratives with his version of the events, where he assures that the reality was very different. According to the president, far from being booed, Alcocer was celebrated by the people of Barranquilla, who, he stated, showed their support by applauding the “government of change.”

“The same media that said that: “the magistrates were rescued by helicopter”, had the headline ready today. “Verónica Alcocer was booed in Barranquilla” but their party was damaged. For her part, Alcocer herself, regarding the situation, commented the following: “Oh, Barranquilla, you don’t know how much I love you. My loves, here I leave you the real video, what really happened. I really only received love. And they even sent kisses to my husband. I only heard: Petro, Petro, Petro! And beautiful phrases, full of affection. Not a single ugly thing happened.”

Regarding the situation in Tuluá that Senator Hernández mentioned, it should be noted that, on the night of Saturday, February 10, this municipality, located an hour and a half from Cali, was the scene of worrying events in terms of public order.

The murder of a traffic officer and an attack that left one of his colleagues seriously injured was reported. In addition, several vehicles were set on fire, creating an atmosphere of tension and fear among the inhabitants. Faced with this escalation of violence, the mayor of Tuluá, Gustavo Vélez, made the decision to decree the restriction of people’s mobility in an attempt to restore calm and guarantee the safety of the population.

The local leader in this regard said that: “We have made the decision to militarize the city and to make the curfew decree so that from 11 p.m. it begins to operate in our municipality. “We have had the support of the institutions of the National Government, and the departmental government through Governor Dilian Francisca Toro and of course the Police and the Army.”
