It is a just under two minutes long clip, which has apparently caused the École Normal Supérieure, one of the most traditional and renowned universities in France, to temporarily cancel two lectures by the American philosopher Judith Butler. The events planned for today, Wednesday and next week were stated in a brief statement from the university initially postponed without a replacement date.

The clip in question shows an excerpt from a discussion that took place last Sunday on the video podcast Words of Honor was held in Paris. The video began circulating on social media on Monday and soon caused outrage. Butler, professor of rhetoric and comparative literature at the US elite University of Berkeley and one of the most influential intellectuals of today, said there that the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023 were simply not terror.
