Julio Brito, Azua deputy for the Dominican Liberation Party, dies

Deputy and lawyer Julio Alberto Brito Peña, from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), passed away early this Monday after experiencing health complications. Brito Peña, who was born in La Estancia in the province of Azua, Dominican Republic, had served as a deputy for the Azua province for four consecutive terms since 2006.

He had graduated from the Law School of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and had completed a Master’s Degree in Electoral Politics at the Catholic University of Santo Domingo, as well as a Master’s Degree in Political Science at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (Unphu). The news of his passing has shocked the political community in the Dominican Republic. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
