Julio Camejo Overcame Traumatic Experience to Achieve Acting Success
Julio Camejo recently performed as part of the BMB Bookin Management Brokers 2022 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City. He has come a long way from the traumatic and complicated experience that he and his family went through over 20 years ago when his mother, Gladys González, was kidnapped by a group linked to the Colombian guerrilla.
At that time, they were living in Cali, Colombia, where Gladys was kidnapped for three weeks as part of a strategy used by some guerrilla groups to extort and obtain illicit resources. Julio and his family had to sell everything to obtain the money needed for his mother’s release, approximately one million Mexican pesos.
Julio reflected on this experience, saying, “In the middle of a crisis you have the decision, you can hide in a corner to cry and complain about what happened, or you can take the bull by the horns and reinvent yourself, change, evolve and move forward.” This experience was decisive for him, and he decided to move forward and remake his future.
After this traumatic event, Julio moved to Mexico to study acting at the Artistic Education Center. Despite the difficult start, opportunities began to arrive, and he went on to appear in soap operas such as ‘Primer amor a 1000 x hora’ and ‘Aventuras en el tiempo’. His big break came when Pedro Damián called him to be one of the antagonists of ‘Class 406’, which launched him to fame and opened the doors for other great roles.
Julio was able to enjoy his mother for many more years after the kidnapping but sadly, Gladys González passed away in January 2021. He said goodbye to her with a beautiful message, remembering her teaching and her encouragement for him to always think about the good of the people.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Julio Camejo has managed to achieve great success in his career, overcoming challenges and tragedies to become a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
