– It is almost impossible to start where I started and end up in Liverpool. But if it’s possible, it’s because I’ve put everything I’ve got into it. My resources are not inexhaustible, says Klopp after announcing his upcoming departure.
He says he recognized that he no longer has what it takes to be the manager of Liverpool.
– You have to be at your best to do this job. I’m no longer a young rabbit, I don’t jump as high as I did before, says the German.
He says it was a relief to make the decision, and he is convinced that it is the right decision. Recently, he has informed the club of his decision.
– It was very emotional. There were some tears, says Klopp.
– I’m not in the mood to summarize this time, to talk about the greatest moments or say thank you for everything, he says further.
The German is asked how this will affect Liverpool for the rest of the season.
They are fighting on four fronts with four months left in the season.
– You saw on the training field today that the players were focused. When a manager is sacked, it’s goodbye in the dressing room and “that’s it”. That will not be the case in this case, says Klopp.
The fact that the club is in such good shape as it is now is the reason why he able to leave it, he says. When he returned after the summer, he was ready to complete his contract until 2026.
– Before, I had endless energy. Now it is no longer like that, says the German.

– I am clearly not going to do that. That is the last thing the club needs, says Klopp.
CEO Billy Hogan says it is not appropriate to discuss heirs at this time.
And Liverpool fans needn’t worry about Klopp managing another Premier League team in the future.
– Even if I have nothing to eat, it will never happen. I promise.
