Kate Middleton, the 42-year-old princess consort of the heir to the throne of England William, yesterday broke the silence on her health conditions: two months after the mysterious operation on her abdomen and after weeks of allegations, she revealed that she is struggling with a tumor and having started a cycle of preventive chemotherapy. In the video in which she tells what is happening to her, the Princess of Wales also explains why she disappeared from the public scene for days and no information was given: the aim was to protect her three children – George, Charlotte and Louis, who they are between 10 and 5 years old – and have time to prepare them and tell them how things are.
The message close to Easter
Kate and William, therefore, remained silent for days to try to protect and safeguard their three children. Then, to explain the situation publicly, the princess shot a video with which she announced that she had cancer and calmed the swirl of rumors, inferences and conjectures that arose around her absence. A crisis that the Palace had failed to calm. The video was released yesterday evening and filmed on Friday afternoon, immediately after the three children returned home and are now starting their Easter holidays. Kate told the world that she has cancer but she first told her children, who will now remain at home for several weeks, until April 17, and will therefore be protected from prying questions and then will be prepared to return to school.

Kate Middleton breaks her silence: “I’m being treated for cancer”
Video
In the video, which lasts 2 minutes and 15 seconds, Kate sits on a wooden bench with a flowerbed of daffodils in the background: she appears determined, sometimes smiling, with her hair down. The princess did not hide the gravity of the situation nor the challenge that her illness represents for herself and her family, but she wanted to send a message of calm. Dressed casually in jeans and a striped jumper, she reviewed the past few weeks: “In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought my condition was not cancer-related. The surgery was successful. However, tests carried out after the operation established that there was cancer.” Then Kate explained that doctors advised her to undergo “preventive chemotherapy” treatment which, according to Kensington Palace, she began receiving at end of February. “Above all, it took me time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was appropriate for them and to reassure them that I will be okay,” she added. “As I told them, I am doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, in my body and in my spirit,” he said. Kate also made it clear that she will not be attending any official engagements until he is better to focus on his own recovery and caring for his family.
