Katharina Andresen | Will build a giant garage under the house

In November last year reported Finansavisen that Katharina Andresen (28) and her husband Frederic Kvasnes (32) had paid NOK 585 million for the Seamen’s Church on Bygdøy. The spectacular purchase was by far Norway’s most expensive.

Now the couple want to build a fully or partially underground parking solution for the giant property they bought on Bygdøy in November, as Nettavisen mentioned earlier in April.

It is now known how extensive the plans are and how large the facility can be.

Gigantic property

The entire property is 5.9 acres. It shows a main residence of 533 square meters and a porter’s residence of 87, so that the total living space is 620 square meters. The usable area is 944 square meters.

However, that did not hold for car enthusiasts Frederic Kvasnes. Now he and Andresen have asked Oslo municipality for a meeting to discuss an underground garage under almost half of the site.

The billionaire couple will build an underground garage from the slope in front of the pool, all the way back to the porter’s residence behind the yard tree.

Katharina Andresen is the daughter of Johan Andresen, who founded the holding company Ferd in 2001. He and his two daughters own the company.

Both Katharina and sister Alexandra are on Forbes list of the world‘s 25 youngest dollar billionaires.

Three options

The duo is said to have proposed three alternatives for the development. The first option is located along the building boundary to the east of the property, where there is currently a garage.

Here, the couple wants to build an underground garage of just over 300 square metres.

Option two is a facility at the front of the main house, i.e. below the current swimming pool and terraces, from the building boundary to the east to the building boundary to the west. Here we are talking about an area of over 500 square metres.

The third option is the gigantic one. Here we are talking about an underground facility under the entire property – from the porter’s residence via the yard and the main house to the front of the terrace facility facing the sea. We are talking about a garage facility of around 2,300 square metres, writes Finansavisen.

Architect Hallstein Guth does not want to comment on the construction plans to the newspaper.
