Keiino, Alexandra Rotan | Alexandra Rotan with Eurovision verdict: – Anything can happen

In May, the stage is set for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. This year it was Gåte with the song “Ulveham” which was voted for by the Norwegian people, and will represent Norway in Malmö on 11 May.

Despite the fact that it was Gåte who ran away with the victory, there were several who had imagined that Keiino would once again represent the Norwegian people in the singing competition.

When Nettavisen meets Keiino vocalist Alexandra Rotan (27) in connection with the premiere party for “Kompani Lauritzen”, where she is one of the 14 participants, she can say that she is unsure whether Norway has what it takes to assert itself in a international final.

– Hard to say

The 27-year-old says that she has kept a close eye on the other countries’ contributions, and that there is a good selection of songs.

– The fun thing about Eurovision is that anything can happen. I’ve followed a bit of the other countries, and it’s so much fun. So how big their winning chances are is hard to say, but I’m looking forward to cheering them on.

We’ve looked at the highlights – and the low points – among the entries that are ready for this year’s Eurovision in Malmö. Trine Rein is a guest! In this episode, the panel looks at the winning entries from Belgium and Moldova.

The singing group, which consists of joiker Fred Buljo (34), singer Rotan and singer-songwriter Tom Hugo Hermansen (44), participated in Melodi Grand Prix for the first time in 2019. There they ran away with first place.

She also adds that they will have more concerts in Europe in the future. Among others in Sweden, Slovakia, Great Britain and Germany.

Furthermore, she says that spending a lot of time and money on something that only depends on one evening is not something you can do very often. Keiino has participated in the MGP a total of three times, so she is unsure if they are thinking of participating once more.

– We love Eurovision, so you should never say never! But it probably won’t be next year, so to speak, she says with a laugh.

– We have now participated three times, and it is getting to a point where you might start looking for other ways to get your music released in other ways, she concludes.

Inspired by Finland

The 27-year-old says that lately she has been paying close attention to the other countries’ contributions, and that there is a good selection of songs. Among other things, Finland has greatly impressed her.

– I really want those pyro shorts! It is very possible that there will be pyroshorts at Keiino this summer, she jokes.

The contribution to Finland is one of several that have stood out this year. Eurovision is known for having several entries that are out of the ordinary, but many believe that this year takes the cake.
