The new area “Witch’s Valley” that will open in March at Ghibli Park will also attract attention for its gourmet food. In addition to faithful reproductions of the original work, there will also be breads made in collaboration with Aichi’s famous foods, as well as director Goro Miyazaki’s favorite menu items.

Ghibli Park’s new area “Witch’s Valley” expresses the worldview of movies such as “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Kiki’s Delivery Service.”

At the Guchoki Bakery, where the main character Kiki worked in Kiki’s Delivery Service, there are a lot of breads lined up.

There is also a menu that focuses on local Aichi products, such as an butter melon, as well as bread wrapped in Neapolitan, director Goro Miyazaki’s favorite, which you can actually buy.
Hot Dog Stand Hot Tin Roof, a takeout specialty store with an eye-catching black cat sign, sells the Neko no Te Dog, which is a large sausage sandwiched between bread shaped like a cat’s paw. There are two types of hand colors: white and black.
The sausage is made with Mikawa pork from Aichi, and you can enjoy it while immersing yourself in the world of Ghibli.

Witch Valley also has a brick-built restaurant called the Flying Oven, which serves traditional European oven dishes such as meat pies, as well as Neapolitan quiches.

Director Goro Miyazaki, who directed the production of Ghibli Park:
“(I recommend) Neapolitan bread. We first served Neapolitan sandwiches, and Gohei mochi at Mononoke no Sato was also Neapolitan-style, so I thought we should stick to that style at Witch’s Valley as well.”
Director Goro Miyazaki, who directed the production of Ghibli Park:
“We started talking about whether there were people who would come to visit and buy bread, and I thought it would be a baguette or a big round bread, just like the one you see in movies. At the same time, we were making bread that would recreate the atmosphere of the movie. We wanted to add something that was delicious to eat and something that was fun to play with.”

The Hatter Hat Shop, which Sophie ran in Howl’s Moving Castle, sells original candy cans and hats.

The second floor was lined with books about witches and magic, and there was even Sophie’s workshop in the back of the store.

The goods shop “13 Witches” in the area also sells goods such as plates and mugs made in collaboration with the Nordic tableware brand “Arabia”.
Ghibli Park, with all five areas completed, will fully open on March 16th.
