Kristoffer Joner met the wall: Didn’t take new roles for two years after “Krigsseileren”

Only now is Joner (51) ready to consider new film roles, he adds Bergens Tidende.

The award-winning actor is known for giving his all in his role interpretations, but the recording of the war drama directed by Gunnar Vikene was very tough.

– One of the most demanding things I have donesays Joner, who went straight from recording “Maskineriet” for Viaplay to recording “Krigsseileren” – and worked for 11 months straight.

It was too much. I couldn’t land, he says in the interview.

– Call it what you want – going on a rampage, being burnt out. I had to find a way out of itsays Joner (51), who bought himself a huge dog, the bullmastiff Walken.

It got him out for a walk and to have structure, and he has decided to take it with him on film shoots from now on.

– I have been constantly offered roles and sent scripts, but have not been ready. There’s no point in agreeing to something if I can’t do the job one hundred percentsays Joner, who feels much better and is ready for new acting assignments.

But first he must be present at The Gullruten gala in Bergen on Saturday, where he is nominated as best leading actor in the drama category.

“Krigsseileren” filmmaker Gunnar Vikene is nominated for best series, screenplay and direction, while Joner’s co-stars Ine Wilmann and Pål Sverre Hagen are competing for best drama supporting actor.
