Le Chant du Gros lifts the veil on its 32nd edition. The festival organizers presented the program this Monday and promise “a rich sound palette”. The musical styles will range from icons of French song to rappers through electrorock. “We wanted to have artists who have never been to Chant du Gros. On Saturday, 100% of the artists come for the first time. As a general rule, we have almost 75% of artists who come for the first time,” rejoices the boss of the Noirmonnier festival Gilles Pierre. With fees too high for international artists, Chant du Gros and its total budget of 3.5 million must turn to singers from the French-speaking scene. “It’s a bit by default but we’re still lucky with French artists who are of quite incredible class,” notes Gilles Pierre.
The festivities will open on Thursday with I Muvrini. For the first time in the history of the festival, Francis Cabrel will perform in one of his rare appearances. This is the big blow of this programming, according to Gilles Pierre. “We have been fighting for 20 years to have Francis Cabrel. We are sure that this is the artist that the Jura residents want to see. Finally he will be here! », welcomes the boss of Chant du Gros. The Moving Stage will see the opening of the new album by rapper Sim’s. French rapper Hugo TSR will also perform for the first time at Chant du Gros.
JoeyStarr, star of Friday evening
Friday evening will begin with reggae from Ivorian singer Tiken Jah Fakoly. Hip hop legend, JoeyStarr will deliver the legendary lines of Métèque and Ma Benz. Singer SAEZ will also be there. Rap will also be in the spotlight for the youngest generation with Niska. Already announced as headliner, Pascal Obispo will return after five years of absence for his 30-year career.
Electrorock on the program with Archive
Saturday will feature artists never before seen in the history of “Song of”. The British group Archive will bring its electrorock to festival-goers. A concert which promises to be “unique and hypnotic”, according to the organizers. Sisters Camille and Julie Berthollet and Patrick Fiori will perform again this Saturday evening. A ticket at a symbolic price for children
The Chant du Gros ticket office will be open from this Wednesday. If the festival was previously free for those under 16, the organizers had to change their policy this year. Entrance will remain free for young people up to five years old. But for those aged 6 to 15, you will have to pay 2 francs (preferential rate) or 3 francs (pre-rental rate) to purchase a day ticket.
Last year, organizers found themselves overwhelmed by young festival-goers. There were 2,800 on Friday evening. “We had too many children and suddenly it became dangerous for safety,” explains Gilles Pierre.
