Persebaya Surabaya won full points in the East Java Derby match against Arema FC. Bajul Ijo narrowly won 1-0.
In the match which was held at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Wednesday (27/3/2024) evening WITA, Persebaya immediately took the initiative to attack from the first minute.
Paulo Henrique got the first chance from a kick outside the penalty box. The ball can still be pushed over by Teguh Amiruddin. Arema responded with a shot from Dedik Setiawan but it was pushed over by Andhika Ramadhani.

Arema threatened again through Charles Lokolingoy but his shot went wide. Arema appeared relatively dominant in the first half but Persebaya scored first in the 40th minute.
Robson Duarte’s corner was met by Yan Victor’s header and Teguh Amiruddin couldn’t reach it. The 1-0 score lasted until halftime.
Entering the second half, Arema was more aggressive in looking for an equalizing goal. However, several opportunities failed to be maximized, including a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.
The referee punished the visitors’ penalty after defender Kadek Raditya committed handball. Dedik Setiawan, who stepped in as executor, actually kicked straight into Ramadhani’s path so he could be pushed over.
Persebaya continued to be pressured in the final 15 minutes of the match. One of the dangerous chances came from Greg Nwokolo in front of goal, who fired a hard shot which was blocked by Ramadhani.
Until the match ended, the score was 1-0 for Persebaya’s victory. These three points keep Persebaya in 10th position League 1 standings with 39 points from 30 matches.
Meanwhile, Arema is in 16th position with 31 points, the same as PSS Sleman in 15th position.
