Australian hard rock band AC/DC will be touring this summer for the first time in almost eight years. The band, famous for rock anthems such as “Highway To Hell”, “Back In Black” and “Thunderstruck”, have now announced a European tour from May to August 2024, confirming months of speculation.

Nine AC/DC concerts in Germany

On their Power Up tour, the group around cult guitarist Angus Young will play nine concerts in Germany, including two each in Gelsenkirchen and Munich. Further appearances are planned in Dresden, Hockenheim, Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Hanover. AC/DC also want to play in Vienna and Zurich. Advance sales begin on February 16th.

Band founder Angus Young, who always appears in school uniform, and singer Brian Johnson are the last remaining members of the AC/DC line-up. Their album “Back In Black” was recorded in 1980 and became one of the most successful albums in music history. Rhythm guitarist Stevie Young succeeded band founder Malcolm Young, who fell ill in 2014 and died in 2017. New to the band is drummer Matt Laug, who performed with the group for the first time at last year’s “Power Trip” festival. Former Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney also replaces Cliff Williams, who has retired.

Just a few years ago it looked as if AC/DC were saying goodbye to the big stage. The main reason for this was that singer Brian Johnson had to leave the band on the “Rock Or Bust” tour in 2016 due to hearing problems. He has been represented at the last 22 concerts by Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose. But with the help of a specialist, the problems were resolved enough for Johnson to return to music.
