For 2024, she resolved to be more “authentic” – and Lena Meyer-Landrut (32) is sticking to that.

In the new episode of her YouTube documentary “Making Loyal” she gives deep insights into her emotional life. And for the first time she says a significant word: depression. And not only that. Lena finds drastic images in her art for her psychological suffering. A car accident is shown in the music video for the current song “Loyal to Myself”.

It has a very personal symbolic meaning for the ESC winner (“Satellite”), as she explains in the documentary: “For me, the crash is, so to speak, my depression relapse in December. The negative thing about the crash is that I hit the wall with it. And then I get out and free myself from it.”

So a happy ending. Fortunately.

Back in December, Lena indicated that she wasn’t feeling well and posted pictures from the emergency room. Why was she there? Unknown.

But about her emotional state, she wrote on Instagram: “November and December are hanging heavy over me. Everything is gray and dark and this year it’s really affecting me and I’m feeling it on every level.”

Her fans were very worried at the time, hoping that it was just winter blues. Now it is clear: it was (and is) much more.

Work has also pushed the singer to her limits in recent months. In the documentary series that documents the process of creating her next album, she admits frankly: “I’ll tell it like it is: I’ll just be happy when it’s over.”

The musician receives a lot of encouragement for openly dealing with her depression. “Lena, you are the best! You are such a strong woman!” commented one user on the YouTube documentary. Another wrote: “I think it’s really beautiful and remarkable how you reflect your feelings in the song!”

Lena can count on the support of her followers. And that of her husband Mark Forster (41).
