Saturday, April 27 2024, one of the famous poets, Joko Pinurbo, died at the age of 61 years. He left behind a series of works that are worth remembering.
Quoted from the Indonesian Literature page at Sanata Dharma University, Joko Pinurbo, or often called Jokpin, is a poet who was born in Sukabumi, 11 May 1962. Meanwhile, quoted from the book ‘From the Age of Imagery to Metafiction: An Anthology of DKJ Literary Studies’ by Adrianus Pristiono, Even though he had lived in his hometown since he was a child, Jokpin chose to migrate when he was in high school.
At that time he decided to live in the Mertoyudan area, Magelang. Then Jokpin continued his education at college level by entering the Indonesian Language and Literature Department at IKIP Sanata Dharma (now Sanata Dharma University) Jogja.

The poet is known to have started writing works since high school. His enthusiasm to continue creating new works never goes away.
Until his last breath, Joko Pinurbo had written more than 20 works and won several awards. Below is a list of Joko Pinurbo’s works and one of his famous poems.

Joko Pinurbo’s Most Famous Poetry
Among his phenomenal works, one of the famous poems by Joko Pinurbo is entitled Pants. In his book Happy Performing Poetry Worship, there are three poems entitled Pants, namely Pants 1, 2, and 3. These are the verses:
Pants Poetry 1
He wants to buy new trousers
Make go to a party
To look more handsome
And convincing
He has tried a hundred models of trousers
In various fashion stores
But didn’t find one
Which suits him
Even in front of the sales lady
Who bullied and persuaded him
He even took off his own trousers
And threw it away
“You don’t know, do you?
I’m looking for pants
The most appropriate and fast
Make a funeral in the grave?”
Then he ran away
No pants
And wander
Looking for his mother’s grave
Just to ask,
“Mom, where did you keep the cute pants I wore when I was a baby?”

When we were at school, we were often asked to draw
Nice, decent trousers, but never
Taught the ins and outs of painting inside trousers
Until we grow up to be sweet children
A coward and a coward
even to our own fate
That’s why we like to be nosy and secretive
Make graffiti and pornographic pictures on the walls
The bathroom so we got used to it
People who are obscene towards themselves
After being sluggish and decrepit, we started to be able to fantasize
About things in your pants
There is a little king who is fierce and likes to rebel
There is an old philosopher who nods off

He has got the pants of his dreams
The long-desired one, though for that
He had to go around town
And enter every fashion store
He adjusted his trousers in front of the mirror
While proudly patting him
Butt tepos is so powerful
“This is original American made,” he said
To the fool in the glass
He went that night too, to meet his lover
Who was waiting for him in the corner of the grave
He showed off his trousers: “These are original American made.”
But the woman was more interested
On the one perched in the trousers
He was also annoyed: “Take off and throw away your pants!”
Slowly he opened his new trousers
The dashing and sophisticated model, and get
The bird that has been caged all this time
