Liverpool is secured third place in the Premier League

Before Liverpool go into action themselves, it is clear that they will not be worse than number three this season. It will take an awful lot for it not to be exactly where they are in the table now that they will end up.

Aston Villa was the only team that could catch up with Liverpool in the table. On Sunday, they met Brighton away in the Premier League. It was a tired Villa team, who clearly knew Thursday’s game against Olympiakos where they lost 4-2 at Villa Park.

Five minutes before the end, Brighton were awarded a penalty. Joao Pedro missed the penalty but slotted in the rebound. With that result, Aston Villa can reach a maximum of 73 points this season. Liverpool have 75 points before Sunday’s meeting with Tottenham.

Gives Tottenham hope

Liverpool will go to Villa Park next Monday, with nothing more than honor to play for. Then Villa played an away match against Olympiakos in Greece four days before.

The result was probably even more important for Tottenham, who want to qualify for the Champions League next season. They are seven points behind Aston Villa, with two games less played.

All hope is not lost for them – although we hope that it will be at 19.30 tonight when the match at Anfield is finished.

Liverpool – Tottenham kick-off at 17.30, and will be shown on V Sport PL and Viaplay.
