LOCH LOMOND PRESENTS THE NEW “THE OPEN” SPECIAL EDITIONS:
ROYAL TROON – CHARDONNAY WINE CASK FINISH UND ROYAL TROON LIMITED EDITION 24YO – MANZANILLA SHERRY FINISH

Vienna, April 22, 2024 – Loch Lomond Whiskey is pleased to announce the release of this year’s Open Special Editions 2024. Royal Troon Chardonnay Wine Cask Finish and the limited edition of the 24 year old Manzanilla Sherry Finish!

CHARDONNAY WINE CASK FINISH

The 152nd Edition was developed by Loch Lomond’s Master Blender, Michael Henry, in collaboration with Colin Montgomerie. Distilled in both the unique Straight Neck Pot Stills and the more traditional Swan Neck Stills, this special whiskey was first matured in American oak barrels to develop the characteristic fruity, honeyed and slightly smoky flavor only found in Loch Lomond Single Malt Whiskey finds.

The unique flavor of this edition comes from aging in first-fill Chardonnay wine barrels, specifically selected to complement the distillery’s signature style with additional depth of flavor. These exceptional Chardonnay wine casks give the whiskey subtle notes of floral honey, vibrant fruit and toasted oak, which perfectly complement the smooth smoke on the finish.

LIMITED EDITION 24YO – MANZANILLA SHERRY FINISH

This special bottling is a worthy tribute to the people, players and courses in the history of the “Open”. This rare 24 year old single malt Scotch whiskey, of which only 4,500 are available, was distilled in Loch Lomond in 1999 using a combination of whiskey from the unique Straight Neck pot stills and the more traditional Swan Neck stills. It first matured for 23 years in American oak barrels and then for six months in the best Manzanilla sherry barrels from Jerez.

“The Open Special Edition 2024 is a tribute to the long tradition of The Open golf tournament and a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication of Loch Lomond Whiskeys.”

said Michael Henry, Master Blender of Loch Lomond.

This limited edition celebrates all previous The Open championships, from the very first in 1860 at Prestwick to the 152nd this year at Royal Troon. “The Open Course Edition” was crafted by Master Blender Michael Henry. This single malt was first matured in American oak barrels and hogsheads and then finished in the finest Manzanilla butts from Jerez, creating a whiskey with the Loch Lomond style of fruit, honey and light smoke.

CAMPBELTOWN MALTS FESTIVAL – UNPEATED FINO SHERRY FINISH 9YO

Wien, 22. 04. 2024 – The Campbeltown Malts Festival is upon us again and promises to celebrate the region’s rich whiskey making heritage. Every May, the few remaining distilleries open their doors to locals and visitors from far and wide to toast the Victorian whiskey capital.

For the employees of Glen Scotia, one of the region’s last remaining distilleries, the festival is their favorite and most anticipated moment of the year. It’s an opportunity to meet old friends, make new acquaintances and immerse yourself in the world of whiskey together.

“The Campbeltown Malts Festival is an opportunity to celebrate the unique heritage and tradition of whiskey making in our region,” said a Glen Scotia representative. “We are pleased to be able to present our festival bottling this year, which reflects the diversity and quality of our craftsmanship.”

This year’s festival bottling from Glen Scotia promises to be fascinating and exciting and is a charming, unconventional whiskey that is perfect for a convivial celebration. This whiskey has been fully matured in first-fill bourbon casks and stored in the finest Fino sherry casks for a minimum of six months. With an alcohol content of 56.2% vol. It is not chill-filtered and retains its natural color.
