Both parts are based on the novel “Trail of Shadows”. It’s about Inspector Lost, who is considered one of the best in his field. With his quick deduction skills he solves every case. However, since he suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, he still needs a lot of tutoring when it comes to human communication.

“Trail of Shadows” – Part 1

Europol Commissioner Lost has finally settled in his new home and is now a permanent member of Fuseta’s Policia Judicária.

Suddenly his colleague Fiadeiro disappears and his new boss immediately believes there has been a kidnapping. Lost is sure: There isn’t much time left if he wants to find Fiadeiro alive. Through video footage from a parking garage, Lost gets on the trail of a man. One thing becomes increasingly clear: Fiadeiro’s kidnapping is just the beginning of a sophisticated plan.

Meanwhile, Lost’s colleague Duarte has a completely different job. He protects the Angolan journalist Flores Yula, who is currently visiting Portugal. Nobody knows why their safety is at risk.

“Trail of Shadows” – Part 2

Inspector Lost has to solve the murder of his colleague. At first he suspects that Lino is in cahoots with the mysterious Torres, but that turns out to be wrong. Torres has Lino’s wife and daughter in his power. Lost and his colleagues Rosado and Esteves investigate.

They learn that Torres belongs to an organization of “shadows” – a secret society of former agents whose client wants to enrich himself from Angola’s natural resources and form a corruption network. To ensure his anonymity, Torres plans an attack on Yola, who is still under personal protection.

Where and when was “Trail of Shadows” filmed?

The first two parts of “Lost in Fuseta – A Crime Thriller from Portugal” were also filmed there. But is that also the case with “Trail of Shadows”? Yes! Under the working title “Trail of Shadows” the Algarve in Portugal filmed. Filming took place from 11. April until 8. June 2023. Nothing was known in advance about specific filming locations.
