The president after France became the first in the world to include the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy in its Constitution
(LaPresse) French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that he wants to include abortion in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, where “nothing can be taken for granted”.
“Beyond Europe, we will fight for this right to become universal and effective” added the head of the Elysée during a public ceremony at Place Vendôme in Paris where the seal of the Republic was affixed to the law that allows abortion in French Constitution. “We will lead this fight on our continent, where reactionary forces first and always attack women’s rights, then the rights of minorities, of all the oppressed, of all freedoms,” Macron warned.
