A severe storm has hit the Zollernalb district. In Bisingen, a large-scale operation of a magnitude that cannot currently be foreseen continues until the night.

After an extraordinary storm with heavy rain, parts of the community of Bisingen in the Zollernalb district are under water. Extreme damage is expected.

Streams overflowed their banks and became raging floods. Cellars are full.

Numerous rescue workers are on site well into the night: According to district fire chief Sven Röger, around 250 members of the fire department, DRK, THW, DLRG from the entire Zollernalb district as well as overland aid from Reutlingen and Menges were on duty around 9:15 p.m. According to eyewitness reports, divers were holding out ready. Inflatable boats could be seen. A police helicopter flew over Bisingen.

“Many roads are currently impassable,” said Röger.

Several hundred emergency calls are received

The focus of operations: along the Klingenbach from Thanheim via Bisingen to Steinhofen. The fire brigades were called to 91 locations on site. In total, several hundred emergency calls were received by the integrated control center, as the district office reported in the evening.

The heavy rain caused a small landslide on State Road 360 between Bisingen and Onstmettingen. According to the district office, the road maintenance department is currently on site (9:15 p.m.) to clear the road.

Because of the flooding, the road in the direction of Bisingen was closed as a precaution – except for residents.

Evacuation: People in Hohenzollernhalle

The fire department evacuated people from their homes to the Hohenzollern Hall. The reason for this was that at a certain point the fire brigade did not know how high the water level would rise, and some ground floor apartments were completely flooded.

At times the water was around one meter high on the Bisinger market square. The current was so strong that it caused cars parked there to move. The ice cream parlor was under water, the roundabout in the center of town, and the construction site in front of the Gutenberg kindergarten was washed away. B27 closed

Sirens blared around 5:45 p.m. to warn of the danger.

All access roads to Bisingen in the direction of Hechingen on the B27 were completely closed. The vehicles piled up up to Engstlatt. The reason for this was accidents and flooding of the streets.

Roads and passageways closed

The Wessingen and Zimmern roads were also closed due to flooding. The police were there to pump out basements and sweep dirt from the streets.

The storm also left its mark elsewhere in the Zollernalb district.
