Maldives, attack on the former president defended by Amal Clooney

An attack on the first democratically elected president in the history of the Maldives casts a shadow over one of the most celebrated tropical paradises in the world. On Thursday evening, Mohamed Nasheed was injured when a bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded as he drove into Malé, the capital of the Indian Ocean archipelago, reports the Guardian. One of his bodyguards was also injured in the blast.
