Airing on two evenings, Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 February on Rai 1 (and on RaiPlay, from Monday evening all the episodes available in box sets) – an event miniseries: the life of Goffredo Mameli, poet, hero of the Risorgimento and author of “Canto degli Italiani”, which later became the national anthem of the Italian Republic.
The story is little known, but extraordinary and the miniseries tells, in particular, two years: 1847 and 1849, full of passions, loves, fights, subterfuges, poetic compositions, meetings and political debates.
Two years in which the history but also the life of Mameli flows from the composition of the “Canto degli Italiani” to the great Oregina demonstration, when for the first time what is now the national team was sung by more than thirty thousand patriots.
