On Saturday, the brothers Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen (22) will again be on the Melodifestivalen stage in Karlstad. There they will fight for a place and on to the big Swedish final with the song “Unforgettable”.

Many people probably still remember the twins’ participation last year fresh in their memory, then with the song “Air”.
That time they had to see themselves beaten at the finish line by Loreen (40) and “Tattoo” – who later also won the Eurovision Song Contest.

Se og Hør met the twins in connection with their concert in Oslo Spektrum recently – the last of the tour.
There we were warmly welcomed by the twin brothers, who had both their family and friends with them backstage.
– People got mad
– It’s a wonderful feeling, we’ve been looking forward to this for a long time and waited a long time for it. Oslo and Oslo Spektrum have a special place in their hearts, the brothers say shortly before they go on stage.
It all started with “Two drops of water”, on stage in Spektrum, in Melodi Grand Prix Jr.
– We are still Marcus and Martinus, the two boys who like to put on a show. But we have grown, and make a slightly different type of music than before. We grow in the same way as our music. We don’t just do one type of music.

– Very happy to win
With this year’s participation in Melodifestivalen, it will be the third time the two 22-year-olds will compete in the Grand Prix circus.
– It is a special feeling to participate again. It went incredibly well last time, and it was a lot of fun. Then we received incredible support from the Swedish people, which we were not prepared for. It was a special feeling. When we got the offer again, we thought it was impossible to say no, because it was so bad last time.

– You were beaten at the finish line last time, and had to settle for second place, how was that?
– Of course we are two boys who are very happy to win, because we are two competitive people. So we would have liked to have come one place further up. But when you fight Loreen, who is a goddess in Sweden, it gets difficult, the twins laugh and continue:

– Every now and then you get very disappointed with second place, but when you think about everything you’ve had to experience the day after, you’re like “WOW!”. Everything that happened was absolutely sick. Then Loreen won the whole thing.
– Yes, because did it help that she ended up with an international victory?
– Yes, we think so.

Lots going on
Furthermore, the two star brothers can tell that there is a lot going on at the moment, and that it takes its toll.
– Eurovision, and Melodifestivalen for that matter, is about creating a fantastic show for the viewers, giving them something magical and making them gape. That’s what we want to try. It’s a show we’ve been working on at the same time as the tour. My head is getting full now, but it will be fun.

– How do you make the time go up?
– We don’t do that. So we don’t have an answer to that, they laugh and continue.
– There is a lot going on, so we just have to grit our teeth. We think it’s fun too! That’s why we make it happen. It’s tiring of course, let’s be honest. But it helps that it’s fun. We can make it happen if we try. We have a song we really like, so it feels right.
“This is a winner”
Se og Hør naturally had to snoop a little and try to get some details on the song the duo participates in. It is extremely strict, and a lot of secrecy, around the Swedish contributions. In the past, artists have been disqualified because songs have found their way onto the internet.
– We can’t say too much. It’s a song we like very, very much. Then it is a bit tougher and rougher than “Air” is. Otherwise, you will have to wait and see, they reply cleverly.

When it became known last year that the brothers were to participate in the Swedish edition of Melodi Grand Prix – and not in Norway – there was an uproar.
– Of course, people were upset when it became known that we were going to be here. That’s what it’s like to join for the neighboring country. We saw it coming, they told Se og Hør at the time.
– We wanted to hide her
This year, on the other hand, there have not been many reactions to track, we are to believe the golden throats.
– It was a big deal last year, but then we talked a lot about it and explained the reason why it was Sweden and so on. So it probably made more sense than people had thought then. It hasn’t been the same life around it this year.

Marcus and Martinus will open the fifth and final dolphin final in Sweden. Whether they make it to the final remains to be seen, but if we believe the odds, it could go all the way. The brothers are tipped to run away with the victory.
