– We have heard that it is difficult because we are Norwegians. That we get this support from Sweden is fantastic. Those at home will say that it is strange that we cry, that we are Norwegians, said Marcus.
– But Sweden has a special place in our hearts, added Martinus.
This year’s victory was revenge for the twins. Last year they participated with the song “Air”. Then they came in second place behind Loreen, who won with the song “Tattoo”.
The Prime Minister congratulates
– Congratulations to Marcus & Martinus for the victory in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, writes Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap) on X, formerly Twitter on Saturday evening.
He calls it a great achievement on an “unforgettable” evening – with reference to the winning song “Unforgettable”.

– Fantastic performance
Marcus and Martinus from Trofors in Nordland will represent Sweden at home in the Eurovision Song Contest. The twin duo won a superior victory in Melodifestivalen on Saturday.
– They did an absolutely fantastic performance. It is Marcus & Martinus who will win tonight, everything else will be a scandal, said Aftonbladet’s Eurovision guru Tobbe Ek to VG right after the twins Marcus and Martinus had left the stage to the evening’s biggest cheers in the Friend’s Arena in Stockholm.
Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen were big favorites ahead of Saturday’s Swedish Eurovision final. Nevertheless, there were several critical voices who did not like the idea of sending Norwegian artists on as Sweden’s contribution to the Eurovision final.
The duo won with 177 points, 73 points ahead of Medina with “Que sera”. The Norwegian twins received the most votes both among the national and international votes.

According to a survey carried out by the analysis company Novus before the findalen, 24 percent of the respondents were quite or very negative about a Norwegian duo representing Sweden. 21 percent were quite or very positive about the same. The most negative are men and the group of young people between the ages of 18 and 34.
Bettan was first
Although the twins are historic in the sense that they will be the first all-Norwegian entry to represent Sweden in Eurovision, there have been Norwegians before.
Elisabeth “Bettan” Andreassen, who won the entire competition for Norway with Hanne Krogh and the song “La det swinge” in 1985, has also participated for the Swedes.
In 1981 she was part of the duo Chips together with Kikki Danielsson who represented Sweden in Eurovision.
