María Corina Machado affirms that she will beat Maduro in the elections in Venezuela and sends a message to Gustavo Petro

In the midst of the ongoing political tension in Venezuela, opposition leader María Corina Machado has asserted that she will emerge victorious in the upcoming presidential elections. Speaking with Vicky en Semana, Machado responded to the recent warning from President Nicolás Maduro, who declared his intention to win “by hook or by crook.”

Machado lambasted the Maduro regime, stating that it is not as strong as it appears and that the Venezuelan society is mounting a firm and organized response against it, even from some former supporters of Chavismo. She also issued a direct message to Colombian President Gustavo Petro, emphasizing the urgent need for the resolution of the conflict in Venezuela, as it directly impacts Colombia and the rest of the Latin American region. Machado warned of a potential Nicaraguan-style repression and the resulting massive migration crisis if Maduro pursues such a path.

The opposition leader highlighted the positive impact of progress in Venezuela and the holding of competitive elections on both Venezuela and Colombia, suggesting that millions of Venezuelan migrants could return, and the country could begin to flourish while dismantling irregular activities, including the presence of the ELN. Machado stressed that the fight is not just political, but also spiritual, expressing her confidence in victory with God’s support.

Acknowledging the personal toll of the political crisis, Machado revealed the heartbreaking impact on families and her colleagues, stating, “What this seeks is to terrorize society.” Despite the difficulties and risks involved, she remains resolute in her determination to contest the elections and bring about change in Venezuela.
