The mortal remains of Colombian senator Piedad Córdoba arrived this Tuesday in Medellín, where they were transferred to the Jardines Montesacro cemetery to be buried in the last tribute to the prominent activist after being farewell the day before in Congress.

After learning of his death, which occurred last Saturday at the age of 68, in Quibdó, capital of the department of Chocó, the funeral services began. Subsequently, a heartfelt tribute was held throughout the day in the Constitution Room of the Senate of the Republic, in Bogotá (capital).

Finally, the senator’s mortal remains were transferred to the municipality of Itagüí, in the department of Antioquia, for burial.

Family, friends and relatives of the senator came to the place to say goodbye, highlighting her career, leadership and affirming that her legacy will continue.

The last time that Senator Córdoba was in Valledupar was at the end of the previous year, when the National Health Superintendency, which had intervened at the Rosario Pumarejo de López Hospital care center, inaugurated the new emergency areas and the leader of the liberal party was among the guests.

After learning of his death, authorities from various countries in the region expressed their condolences to his family and highlighted the work carried out by Córdoba, both for peace in Colombia and in defense of human rights.
