Ambition is gone Red Sparks advanced to the final Korean Volleyball League (KOVO V-League) this season. 0-3 defeat of Pink Spiders in the third playoff match they ensured they lost 1-2 on aggregate.
Playing at the Samsan World Gymnasium, Tuesday (26/3), the Pink Spiders, who played at home, won 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19. They appeared dominant from the first set, which started with a big lead of up to 10-4, then 13-6.
The Red Sparks closed the gap to 15-19, but that was the closest they got to the Pink Spiders, who then only gave their visitors three additional points before finishing the first set with a 25-18 win.

The start of the second set was tighter. Both teams were chasing points until the Pink Spiders could only lead 10-9. However, Willow Johnson et al slowly got out of the Red Sparks’ pressure and moved away 15-10.
The Red Sparks, who never gave up, narrowed the distance to 15-17, but the Pink Spiders came back 19-15 away and since then they were no longer able to be caught. The hosts continued to excel until closing the second set with a score of 25-19.
In the third set, Red Sparks took control and led 9-6, but Pink Spiders managed to equalize the score at 9-9 and then went ahead 12-11. Smash Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi then changed the score to 12-12.
Megawati also brought the Red Sparks to equalize the score to 13-13 after the Pink Spiders were ahead 13-12. However, after that, the Red Sparks faced a steep road after the Pink Spiders shot to a 19-15 lead.
Megawati’s smash brought Red Sparks to close the gap to 16-19, but Pink Spiders came back 21-16, then 24-19. Megawati’s final smash ensured the Pink Spiders won 25-19 and locked the score at 3-0.
In this match, the Pink Spiders were superior in every way to the Red Sparks. They only made 13 errors compared to their opponent’s 16, then scored eight blocks, six aces and 45 attacks. Meanwhile, Red Sparks only scored five blocks, two aces and 36 attacks.
With this result, the Pink Spiders advanced to the finals to face Hillstate, who were the regular season champions.
