Individual microentrepreneurs must adhere to the Labor Electronic Domicile
Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs), in addition to large companies in Simples Nacional, must register for Labor Electronic Domicile (DET) by May 1st, next Wednesday. The company that does not adhere may suffer penalties and even fines.
DET is an official communication channel between tax audits and companies that simplify processes, in addition to reducing operational costs for both companies and the government.
Since March 1st, the system has been mandatory for employers and entities in groups 1 and 2 of eSocial. Now, members of groups 3 and 4 and domestic employers must also register with the DET.
If businesspeople and MEIs do not comply with the requirements, they may receive fines, which start at R$208.09 and can reach up to R$2,080.91. The value can correspond to almost a third of the micro-entrepreneur’s monthly revenue.
Furthermore, ceasing to use DET means that the company and entrepreneur may lose the benefits and amenities provided by the platform, such as exemption from the need to publish communications in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) or send them by mail.
This measure guarantees that employers will have access to all information directly through the platform, from administrative acts to subpoenas, simplifying and speeding up the exchange of information between interested parties.
How to register?
To join the DET, access the Taxpayer Services Portal, e-CAC. Then, the option term will appear on the screen and you must click on “Request Membership” to confirm.
