“Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” – the theme of MET GALA 2024 – isn’t exactly revolutionary, but it didn’t stop stars from parading down the event’s “green” carpet in their garden-inspired outfits. Or more or less this.
Film, music, television or streaming stars, personalities and models struggled to choose a dress code inspired by “The Garden of Time”, a short story by British science fiction author JG Ballard (1930-2009). The theme of the New York Fashion Institute exhibition.
Most of the stars took this literally, drawing inspiration from flowers, petals, twigs and leaves, while others played with the theme of time and history, present in the tale.
The MET GALA — a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, USA — was held on the evening of Monday, May 6th.
The event is organized by American Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Star of the hit “Dune – Part 2”, Zendaya was one of the hosts of the 2024 MET Gala. Knowing that her presence would attract attention, she chose two models – to open and close the red carpet.
The first was an incredible royal blue and emerald green dress with details that seemed inspired by fruit trees. It is a model designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela Artisanal.

It was another John Galliano model, but made for Givenchy in 1996, which belongs to the Lily et Cie boutique in Beverly Hills. Black, voluminous dress with striking hat with a bouquet of red, white, yellow and pink roses.

As one of the event’s hosts (the other was Zendaya), Jennifer Lopez wore an incredible handmade model by designer Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli Haute Couture. Made in 800 hours, 2.5 million crystals and silver pearls were applied to the illusion tulle in the shape of a butterfly. She accessorized with a platinum, 18-carat gold and 20-carat diamond necklace from Tiffany & Co.

Demi Moore she went for one of the best looks of the night. It was a velvet dress by designer Harris Reed adorned with huge pink peonies made from vintage wallpaper.
Reed said the dress took more than five thousand hours to make, adding that it was designed so that the flowers appeared to decompose as they flowed through the dress.

The jewelry was Cartier Haute Jewerly from the Natural Sauvage collection, launched in May. She was the first star to wear such jewelry at the MET GALA.

The singer King’s wool hadn’t attended the Met Gala since 2018, so she decided she needed to overhaul her fashion sense from the ground up – let’s say… She wore a dress with a silk bodice, double georgette crepe and tulle, which referenced an Alexander McQueen piece, almost two decades ago, redesigned by the brand’s current creative director, Seán McGirr.

Full of knowing that she is one of the hottest names in Hollywood in 2024, Sydney Sweeney looked stunning in a light blue Miu Miu dress with bouquets of black flowers.
The star of the “Euphoria” series also did the right thing by swapping her traditional blonde look for black hair, which easily matched her latex gloves.

Since her debut as the character Carrie Bradshaw in the series “Sex And The City” in 1998, Sarah Jessica Parker became a fashionista (an old expression used to define people who love fashion and are not afraid of making mistakes or getting things right!). The designer was chosen by costume designer Molly Rogers to appear in the third season of “And Just Like That…”, which will premiere later this year.

For her MET GALA debut, the singer Silence chose Balmain to create a dress made of sand — a reference to the sands of time.
“We were looking to do something creative, something completely different for my first Met Gala,” Tyla told Vogue magazine. “So when Balmain showed me the idea and the sketch, I knew it would be perfect. The idea was crazy, and I loved it.”
Okay, it was innovative, but Tyla’s movements were so restricted that she had to ask for help to climb the stairs, eliciting more laughter than admiration.
We have no information as to whether any cat was present at the Ball and enjoyed the ‘pipi cat’ look.

Typically, when stars talk about using ice, they are referring to the color. In case of Camila Cabellohowever, she was literally referring to frozen water.
“My hands are very cold”, said the singer, explaining that she planned to pass the huge block of ice to someone after climbing the stairs. “I can’t feel my hands.”
The ice stone had a rose in the center, and complemented her Ludovic de Saint Sernin look with 250,000 crystals, which took more than 450 hours to make.
