Christmas tragedy. At least three migrants died in the shipwreck in the Aegean Sea of the boat they were on, a few hours after another accident in which the victims were eleven. The coast guard reported this, stating that they had saved 57 people from the boat that capsized and sank near the island of Paros. The second incident occurred off the coast of Antikythera: 90 people were found on the island’s beaches, including 27 children and 11 women. The boat had left Turkey and was headed for Italy.

The 114 migrants aboard Ocean Viking will be able to disembark in Trapani. The authorization, according to the NGO Sos Mediterranee, was given by the Italian authorities 8 days after the rescue of the people.

270 leave the center of Lampedusa
Thirty migrants – originally from Bangladesh and Tunisia – disembarked, after being intercepted 7 miles from the island of Lampione by a patrol boat of the Guardia di Finanza, in Lampedusa. Among them also a woman and two minors who made the journey aboard a 6-meter wooden boat. They too were taken to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district where there are 433 guests compared to the 250 places available. The transfer of 270 migrants from the first reception facility to the quarantine ship Atlas, which moored in Cala Pisana, has recently begun.
