Former Soviet Union president and Communist Party secretary Mikhail Gorbachev died. He had been hospitalized in early July, on dialysis. He was 92 years old.
Gorbachev was the protagonist of the world scene in the late 1980s, determining the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
