ADOR CEO, Min Hee Jin, opens up about his problems with HYBE. ADOR is a subsidiary of HYBE, known for its popular NewJeans. Later problems arose between the two.
Previously it was reported that HYBE had carried out an audit of ADOR, it was suspected that there was an attempt by Min Hee Jin to control management. HYBE also said they had proof of this claim.
On the other hand, Min Hee Jin talked about his disappointment regarding ILLIT’s debut (under the management of Belift Lab, another HYBE subsidiary). It was claimed by the ADOR boss that ILLIT’s debut plagiarized NewJeans and was detrimental to his party.
On Thursday (25/4/2024) Min Hee Jin held a press conference in Seoul. On that occasion, he opened his voice about the polemic with HYBE, focusing more on accusations about breach of trust and attempts to take over the company. Before getting into issues that are currently hotly discussed, Min Hee Jin told many things throughout his career at HYBE to provide context.
He said his life over the last two days had been very chaotic. He has now become a bad person in the eyes of many people. Min Hee Jin also felt like he was being framed and blamed.
“I didn’t expect this much attention would be directed at me. I never expected them to monitor my KakaoTalk conversations and want to get rid of me. I really want to talk, because it feels strange not to talk about this… They attacked me with the issue of ‘attempting to take over management ‘, I can’t agree with that claim. I know that’s what you read, but when I talk about the issue of plagiarism, people are ignorant and think I’m changing the conversation,” said Min Hee Jin, quoted from an article released by Korea JoonAng Daily on Thursday (25/4/2024).
Previously, it was reported that HYBE confiscated ADOR office assets such as laptops. Min Hee Jin explained that the laptop was ‘skinned’ so that his private conversations on the KakaoTalk application were leaked.
“They confiscated the deputy CEO’s laptop and snatched my conversations from there. For me, this is the biggest trick of all. I know in your eyes I’m a sinner, but HYBE CEO Park Ji Won, who was close to me until recently, and everyone who is now attacked me, making me think ‘how could all this happen?” continued Min Hee Jin.
He then talked about his relationship with HYBE CEO Park Ji Won. Their closeness as friends and colleagues made Min Hee Jin share many things. But he didn’t expect it to backfire.
“The things I talked about comfortably with Park Ji Won actually made me a grumpy grandmother. The things I said to my deputy CEO were things we discussed outside the context of closeness. Some things were a bit over the line, but it’s because our conversation has been taken out of context. When someone blames you in that way and fabricates your conversation, it’s easy to make a story out of it,” said Min Hee Jin.
What he meant was a conversation on KakaoTalk with the CEO of HYBE which then made Min Hee Jin suspected of wanting to take over the company. From the press conference, Min Hee Jin indicated that he was innocent and denied the accusations made against him by HYBE.
Apart from that, he also revealed other things about HYBE and how its efforts to debut NewJeans clashed with HYBE’s interests in acquiring Source Music and debuting LE SSERAFIM. From there he then denied the accusation of violating trust.
“Park Ji Won said I shouldn’t promote NewJeans before LE SSERAFIM’s debut. They want the public to think LE SSERAFIM is Min Hee Jin’s girl group. Park Ji Won said I shouldn’t say NewJeans is a new group, because they (HYBE) want to confuse the public . This all doesn’t make sense but it happened, and I had no choice but to say ‘yes’ and prove it to them in any way I could. They didn’t let me promote NewJeans as Min Hee Jin’s first girl group (HYBE) because they wanted to make it public. confused (by the appearance of LE SSERAFIM).
