After the endorsement of French President Emmanuel Macron, Moldova expects to become a candidate country for EU entry by the end of June. A move that puts the former Soviet republic under the protective cap of the West: the pro-European government of Maia Sandu is optimistic but the path to becoming the 28th EU member is long and presents big unknowns.
