As in previous years, the traditional Mother’s Day concert on the village square in Bassersdorf was organized by the Buffalo band Bassaville in collaboration with the Nürensdorf men’s choir. Since last year’s Mother’s Day event had to be canceled at short notice due to the weather, the organizers were even more pleased that this year’s Mother’s Day concert could be held again in bright sunshine. The event was made possible by the service agreement that the Bassersdorf community concluded with the Buffalo Band Bassaville.

Music for Mother’s Day

Over a hundred people, including many mothers and their families, gathered in the village square in the morning to listen to the beautiful sounds. The diverse big band works played by the Buffalo Band Bassaville – presented under the musical direction of Fortunat Häfliger and partly accompanied vocally by Nadine Wietlisbach – complemented each other in an enriching way with the cheerful vocal performances of the Nürensdorf men’s choir led by conductor Tabea Herzog. The two music clubs thus managed to delight the audience with the varied concert – in the spirit of a colorful musical bouquet of flowers for Mother’s Day.

Local councilor as guest

After some musical performances, Bassersdorf local councilor Selina Stampfli gave a short speech as part of the Mother’s Day event. Stampfli shared some thoughts about Mother’s Day with the guests and also referred to music, saying that music – just like with your mother – is often associated with strong emotions and feelings.

Afterwards aperitif

Finally, the culinary well-being of the guests was also taken care of: The Gnos family, who run the Schlossbraui Nürensdorf, organized an aperitif after the concert. This rounded off the Mother’s Day event perfectly. Many concert goers lingered in the village square after the concert to enjoy the delicacies provided and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.

Organizational challenges

Looking back, Roman Brauchli, president of the Buffalo Band Bassaville, reported that organizing the event involved considerable effort; For example, he would have had to obtain permission for the event on the village square. Hans Jürg Städeli, Vice President of the Nürensdorf Men’s Choir, mentioned a general challenge that the men’s choir is currently facing: The number of members is currently limited, so new choir members are always welcome. In any case, Brauchli and Städeli agree that the preparations for the Mother’s Day event were worth it – after all, it was nice to be able to organize a Mother’s Day concert for the local population and then perform in front of a large audience.
