National Children’s Book Day: date marks the birth of Monteiro Lobato

This Thursday (18), National Children’s Book Day is celebrated and the birthday of the Taubatean writer and father of children’s literature, Monteiro Lobato. Taubaté, the writer’s hometown, holds the title of National Capital of Children’s Literature.
In honor of the writer, the city of Taubaté is holding the 72nd Monteiro Lobato Week with a program of free activities. The public can watch cultural presentations, plays, shows and participate in workshops. The activities are all free and take place at the Monteiro Lobato Museum, Sítio do Pica-pau Amarelo.
With the theme Between myths, words and fantasies – Celebrating Lobatian Folklore, this year’s week highlights the rich Brazilian folklore, which is also present in Lobato’s works, mainly in the book O Saci.

9:30 am: Presentation of Musicalization and Preparatory Classes by students from the Fêgo Camargo school.
10am: Presentation: The Gang from Centro Dia no Mundo de Lobato.

3pm: Coral Conviver from CCI Vila Marli.
