NATO: China blatantly lied to support Russia | Sanctions | Epoch Times

[Epoch Times, March 24, 2022](Epoch Times reporter Xu Jian comprehensive report) The day before the NATO summit between the EU and US President Biden (March 23), NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg ( Jens Stoltenberg accused China of giving Russia political support when it attacked Ukraine, and warned Beijing not to provide material support for Moscow’s aggression.

“China has provided political support to Russia, including spreading blatant lies and misinformation, and allies fear that China may provide material support for Russia’s invasion,” Stoltenberg said on Wednesday, AFP reported. “

“I hope EU leaders make a call for China to fulfill its responsibilities as a member of the UN Security Council, not to support Russia’s war attempts, but to join the rest of the world in calling for an immediate and peaceful end to the war,” he said.

U.S. President Joe Biden arrives in Europe on Wednesday, where he will meet NATO, European Union and Group of Seven leaders in an effort to build a united front for humanitarian relief over Russia’s war on invasion of Ukraine, while strengthening support for Russia sanctions.

Political news site Politico reported on March 18 that EU officials revealed they had “very solid evidence” that China was considering military aid to Russia. EU officials say the EU could impose trade sanctions on China if China does provide arms to Russia.

The EU official did not say what kind of aid Moscow asked China to provide. “We are concerned that China (China) is colluding with Russia.” He said the EU would “set up trade barriers” with China if Beijing followed Russia’s request for military aid because “it is the only language Beijing understands”.

U.S. officials have issued similar warnings, saying the Russian government has asked China for military equipment and other support. But China’s ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, said China did not provide Russia with the weapons it used to invade Ukraine, but he also did not explicitly rule out future or such actions. He said Beijing was continuing to “promote peace talks and urge an immediate ceasefire”.

In a phone call with Xi Jinping last Friday, Biden warned of “impact and consequences” for China if Beijing decides to provide material assistance to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

On Tuesday, U.S. National Security Adviser Sullivan told reporters that the U.S. had not seen China “providing military equipment to Russia” but “we are watching it closely and will continue to monitor it.”

The EU-China summit will be held on time on April 1. Sullivan said that Biden will consult with European allies on the CCP’s possible involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the United States and Europe will “speak with one voice on this issue.”
