US actor Kevin Spacey has denied new allegations of alleged sexual assault against men ahead of the broadcast of a documentary about his life. In an interview with British journalist Dan Wootton published on online networks on Saturday, the two-time Oscar winner, who was acquitted in several court cases, denied any wrongdoing.
“I take full responsibility for my past behavior and actions, but I cannot and will not apologize to anyone who has made up things about me or told exaggerated stories about me,” Spacey said. He has never told anyone that he would help him with his career in exchange for sexual favors.
The court acquitted Spacey of the allegations
In the two-part documentary “Spacey Unmasked”, which will be broadcast in the UK on Monday and Tuesday on Channel 4, ten men accuse the US actor of behaving inappropriately towards them. One of the alleged victims in the documentary, former actor Ruari Cannon, described his allegations in the British newspaper “i” on Saturday. He accuses Spacey of touching him inappropriately in 2013 when he was 21.
Spacey is one of a number of stars, including Bill Cosby and R. Kelly, who have had to stand trial against sexual violence in the wake of the #MeToo movement. However, he was never convicted. Spacey was acquitted last year in a trial in London about alleged sexual assaults against men between 2001 and 2013. A court in New York had previously acquitted him of similar allegations.

The first allegations of abuse against the actor, who is world-famous in films such as “American Beauty” and the Netflix series “House of Cards,” became known in October 2017, shortly after the #MeToo movement began. Actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexually molesting him in 1986 when he was 14 years old. A criminal complaint by Rapp was dismissed in the USA, and Spacey was acquitted in the subsequent civil trial.
