Hikaru Utada, celebrating her 25th anniversary since her debut, makes her first appearance on “NHK MUSIC SPECIAL”. Her hit songs “Traveling” and “Hikari”, which were re-recorded for her best album “SCIENCE FICTION”, will be performed for the first time on TV.
When the program asked viewers to ask questions to Hikaru Utada, 3,020 questions were received from all over the country. Hikaru Utada read through all the questions, selected them together with the program staff, and held a big question competition in which questioners ranging from their 20s to 60s, invited from all over the country to NHK in Shibuya, Tokyo, met in the studio. From urgent life consultations such as anxiety about a new life, worries about relationships and life choices, to questions such as “What kind of grandma do you want to be?”, “What do you want to do at least once before you die?” and “To fall in love with someone.” Hikaru Utada confronts the person asking the question, getting to know their personality, and answering the question sincerely, even when asked a casual question such as, “What are you sometimes attracted to?”
Furthermore, the latest song “Electricity” is a collaboration with Aoi Yamada, a dancer/actor who is active both domestically and internationally. Saxophone player MELRAW will be invited as a guest musician to express the world view of the song “SCIENCE FICTION”. Immediately after the recording, the first conversation between Hikaru Utada and Aoi Yamada was held. Do not miss it.
