NæRØYSUND (Namdal newspaper): At 2.30pm on Wednesday, the fire crew on the scene confirmed to NA’s reporter that the fire has been extinguished.

The 110 central in Midt-Norway received a report of the fire at 1.39pm.

– A fire has been reported in a residential building in Nordveien, in the Vikestad area. The fire is said to have started in a socket and spread to the outer wall. There are open flames at the site, Fred Mælen, duty manager of the Mid-Norway 110 central, told NA 20 minutes later.

Everyone got out

Several fire engines as well as an ambulance and police moved out.

– We have just arrived and have started extinguishing, said Mælen at 2pm.

– Is there a risk of spread?

– There is probably not a great danger of spreading to other buildings in the area, but this is a bit unknown at the moment, said the warden.

According to the 110 central, it was the homeowner himself who reported the fire.

– Everyone in the house has got out, but it is possible that there are some cats that are not completely under control, says Mælen.

Have control

The fire may appear to have started in a socket on the outside of the wall, according to incident leader Arnstein Grunnan. Inside the house, the fire inlet is not shown.

There must have been two children and an adult present when the fire started, where all three were very efficient in getting out of the house unharmed, according to Grunnan – who can report that none of the people involved have inhaled smoke.

– Now we have taken pictures and secured the scene of the fire, at the same time that the fire service is tearing some planks from both the walls and the veranda to uncover a possible risk of spreading, he says.
