Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to one year in prison without parole for “illicit funding”. The court specified that “the penalty will be applied and executed according to the electronic surveillance regime”. Sarkozy, 66, regardless of the almost certain appeal that his lawyers will present, will therefore not go to jail but will wear an electronic bracelet.
