Nigeria is the first country to qualify for the final of the African Cup of Nations played in Ivory Coast. Against South Africa, Osimhen and his teammates nevertheless had to wait for penalties to pass (1-1, 4-2).

The Super Eagles, however, thought they were holding on to their victory when their star Victor Osimhen thought he scored the 2-0 goal in the 85th minute. But it was refused after viewing because there was a foul at the start of the action… in the Nigerian area.

The score then went from 2-0 to 1-1 in a matter of seconds, with Teboho Mokoena converting the penalty awarded to the South Africans.

One step away from a 4th CAN

In extra time, Victor Osimhen, who had obtained the opening penalty from William Troost-Ekong in the 67th minute, pushed, but it was necessary to go through penalties.

His teammate Kelechi Iheanacho did not tremble to score the shot which sent Nigeria to its 8th final of the Africa Cup of Nations. The Nigerians won those of 1980, 1994 and 2013.
