The Swiss experienced a real debacle in the 7.5 km sprint at the Worlds in Nove Mesto. The race turned into a festival for the French, who achieved an unprecedented quadruplet.
Lena Häcki-Gross had a nightmare sprint. The Obwalden completely failed at shooting, with a 5/10 which obviously made her lose all her hopes. She missed one target on the prone shot and four on the standing shot. This terrible poor performance (66th) will deprive her of the Sunday chase.
The highest ranked Swiss was Elisa Gasparin (49th), at 2’41”7 and with only one shooting error. Amy Baserga (7/10) finished 54th at 2’52”8 while Aita Gasparin, 62nd at 3’07 with two missed targets, will also not be able to chase.
Starting with bib no. 2, Julia Simon won after scoring a 10/10 at the shooting range. She preceded her compatriots Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (at 4”9) and Lou Jeanmonnot (at 40”8), who both missed a target. Sophie Chauveau punctuated the overwhelming French domination by finishing 4th at 44”2, also with a mistake.
