Odd squandered the chances – Haugesund won the series opener in overtime – Dagsavisen

It looked like it was going to be 1-1 in Skien, but in overtime Seone showed up with a chest and made it 2-1 and three FKH points. However, it was Odd who created the most on his own home turf.

After barely seven minutes, the hosts’ Mikael Ingebrigtsen got a shot after a break high in the field, but Egil Selvik stopped the attempt. A minute and a half later, Odd pushed forward with another great chance, but FKH’s last chance made up for their own mistake.

Just before half-time, Selvik made another blunder, but this time too the away team escaped with a scare. The hosts’ missed chances finally had consequences when Bruno Leite hammered FKH into the lead with just over five minutes to go.

– Odd should have full control here, but they mess up the ball. Unforgivable in its own field. As soon as Bruno Leite gets the opportunity, it just says bang, commented TV 2 expert Jesper Mathisen.

Less than five minutes after the change of sides, Tony Miettinen appeared at the back post and dispatched an Odd free kick into the goal. The referee was first up with the offside flag, before VAR intervened and awarded scoring to the hosts.

During the second half, Odd had several great chances, including Tobias Svendsen and Solomon Owusu. In overtime, the visitors decided.

– You never know what will happen

Torgeir Børven suffered a blow to the groin earlier this week, and the veteran was not ready to play in time for the series opener.

– We had to turn around when Torgeir was injured in midweek, and we have had several options. We want to be forward-looking with control, and we must find the key to that control. For some periods in the run-up to the season, we have been sparkling, and then we have lost control and given away large spaces, Odd coach Kenneth Dokken told TV 2 before kick-off.

Only a few days ago, Bilal Njie changed pastures from Haugesund to Odd.

– It’s football, so you never know what can happen. It will be a bit strange today, but at the same time very fun. Football is about emotions, so it may happen that one or two things happen, the attacking player told TV 2 ahead of the match.

– Would spare him that

Dokken denied to the channel that Njie had spread the word about the old club’s tactical approaches in the days before the match.

– We have spared him that, so we have only asked him about some general things. We didn’t want to put him in that situation, said Dokken.

Haugesund was exposed to the relegation battle until the last round of the series last season, but a strong 3-0 win at home against Stabæk cemented a new contract at the top level of Norwegian football.

Odd, on the other hand, was number ten, but the white-clad men from Skien were never in danger of saving their place in the Eliteserien.
