OSCARS 2024: The super siblings walked away with the Oscar for “What Was I Made for?”

Night to Monday Norwegian time, the Oscars – or Oscars – were handed out at the traditional award ceremony, which also took place this year in the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

And while Oppenheimer was the evening’s big winner with a total of seven Oscars, it was a song from the competing big favorite – Greta Gerwigs Barbie – who walked away with the award for best original song. It went to “What Was I Made for?», which is a song co-written by Billie Eilish (22 years old) and the brother/producer O’Connell’s testimony (26 years old). This makes Eilish the youngest person ever to win Best Song twice. The last time she won the award was in 2022, with “No Time To Die” for the James Bond film. Also then, she won with her brother, which technically makes him the second youngest person to win the equivalent of two Oscars for Best Original Song.

Also included in the run was “I’m Just Ken” from the same film. So it didn’t win – but could be experienced live at the Oscar party, where Ken – in the guise of an actor Ryan Gosling – was assisted on stage by none other than Slash from Guns ‘n Roses.

Among the other nominees for Best Original Song was “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” from Martin Scorseses Killers of the Flower Moon.

The Canadian guitarist Robbie Robertson is behind the soundtrack to Scorsese’s blockbuster. Robertson is remembered for his work with The Band and Bob Dylan, and was behind several Scorsese soundtracks throughout his career. He died aged 80 in August 2023.
