National Strategic Hub: over 200 million euros from Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit, CDP, Banco BPM and BPER, with the support of the EIB to accelerate Italy’s digital transformation
The work of Polo Strategico Nazionale (PSN) continues as the primary enabler of the country’s digital transformation, thanks also to the support of a pool made up of the main Italian financial institutions, supported by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Polo Strategico Nazionale, pillar of the Cloud Italia Strategy of the Department for digital transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers as well as a key project of the PNRR, has obtained financing of over 200 million euros from a pool made up of Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit and Cassa Depositi and Prestiti (CDP) which acted as Structuring Bank, Original Mandated Lead Arranger and Bookrunner and Banco BPM and BPER in the role of Original Mandated Lead Arranger. The loan, specifically, includes a 73 million share granted by the EIB: these are loans brokered by Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit and CDP, which will allow the banks to facilitate the financing conditions for Polo Strategico Nazionale.
A loan that Polo Strategico Nazionale undertakes to use to complete its mission: to create a technologically innovative cloud infrastructure to guarantee security, economic and environmental sustainability in the management of data and applications of the Italian PA.
Emanuele Iannetti, CEO of Polo Strategico Nazionale: “The choice of the financial institutions and the EIB to support our work is a confirmation of the solidity, credibility and authority of the Polo Strategico Nazionale project. The support of the EIB and the entire group of banking institutions, Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit, CDP, Banco BPM and BPER, is fundamental. I thank all the actors involved, who strongly believed in the project.”
In detail, the loan is made up of three credit lines1 with the aim of strengthening and accelerating the operations of the National Strategic Hub, using the funds to support project, operational and financial costs and investments for technological renewal. This is in order to promote the digital transformation of the Public Administration, thanks to PSN’s secure cloud migration plans.
The financing operation was followed by Chiomenti, which assisted Polo Strategico Nazionale (and the partners of the latter in relation to the financial documentation of which they are part), and by Studio Gianni & Origoni, which assisted Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit, CDP, Banco BPM and BPER.
