Jakarta – The Palace responded to news of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) meeting with PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri which was bridged by DIY Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB)
Presidential Special Staff Coordinator (Stafsus) Ari Dwipayana said that the initiative for the meeting emerged as Jokowi’s attempt to establish friendship with national figures.
Because, as head of state, Jokowi is always open to meeting figures in the country. Especially for the progress of the nation.

“The initiative for a meeting can come from anywhere, but the most important thing is that the friendship between national figures will definitely be beneficial for the interests of the nation and state,” he said, quoted on Tuesday, February 13 2024.
Quoted by various sources, Jokowi’s request to Sultan HB X to meet Megawati was expressed during a visit to Yogyakarta some time ago.
During this visit, Jokowi visited Sultan HB X at the Jogja palace.

He is also waiting for Jokowi’s further decision regarding this plan. If asked to facilitate, he is willing to help.
“That’s right. But I’ll wait for the President, I’ll bridge it. Yes, it’s up to the President, that’s all. “Yes, wait, if the President really needs it, I’m willing,” explained Sultan HB X, quoted Monday (13/2) at the DIY Governor’s Office.

Sultan HB X added that he would act passively regarding the meeting between Jokowi and Megawati. Whether it happens or not depends on Jokowi.
“That means it wasn’t me who took the initiative, it was the President himself who took the initiative. “Yes, it’s up to you, Mr President, whether you need to meet Mbak Mega, who I want to facilitate or not, isn’t that right,” he concluded.
