When asked why the players opened the match “masochistically”, he did not agree with such an expression.
“It is difficult to answer the question when such an expression is used, but that is your right. I will be on the side of my players, but I will agree with you that we started the game badly, that’s for sure. It is evident, we allowed the opponent to make 3:13 when we could have made fouls. We didn’t even have a good schedule at the beginning and that’s how it is. We didn’t play well, but after that we found a way to play a very good game, first of all defensively. I guess that’s the wealth of basketball, that you can influence.”
He pointed out that equality is a great quality of this Euroleague.
“One ball, one possession changes this game we all love. There is an opponent, it’s not like you’re leading by eight points and you’re going to win the game. It’s not quite like that. If it were so, we wouldn’t have this tie in the Euroleague. Look at the table, one team has separated again, and the difference between the other team and us is maybe three wins. Evenness is a characteristic of this Euroleague. I think the Euroleague is a very interesting competition and everyone recognizes that. We managed to separate ourselves by working a lot. It could have been different. Surely the quality of both opponents leads to that on the field.“
